Good morning all you coffee enthusiast! I am brewing up a bean my local grocery just started stocking. It's called "Rwanda Select Reserve" from Westrock Coffee. It's brewing up nice and dark but not to much in the fragrance department as it's brewing. I am listening to "Just A Matter Of Time" from the Randy Rogers Band, it's a great song and Randy's voice is gritty and reminiscent to Gary Allen with a touch of Pat Green. Speaking of a matter of time...I do believe my coffee is ready!
Wow, this coffee holds nothing back from the first sip, which would be good by itself but it's also perfectly balanced from the sip to the swallow. This has got to be the most well rounded and smooth roast I've ever had. The label calls it "Rich & Robust", but I would have labeled it "confident and consistent". If this coffee was a women I'd be purposing, but it's coffee and so my only issue would be it could be a bit stronger.
I give "Rwanda Select Reserve" from Westrock Coffee a 4 out of 5.
More awesome coffee facts: I'd like to give a shoot out to my friend and fellow coffee enthusiast Stephanie Jocelyn for turning me on to this story....
Scientist enrolled 84 men into a DNA study where half were given 750 ml of coffee and the other half plain ol' water. For four weeks the men were asked to keep their usual diet and avoid other caffeinated drinks and foods. They took blood samples regularly, and at the beginning everyone showed similar levels of spontaneous DNA breaks, but by the end of the study the water drinkers had a slight increase in breaks while the coffee drinkers actually decreased, creating a 27% gap between the two groups. This could mean that drinking coffee could assist DNA in replicating itself more accurately.
